While screaming and beating the people up is not socially acceptable, eating is.
The Path to Food Freedom
Have the food crazies? I sure do! Tired of dieting and exercise programs that didn’t work, I started THE Path to Food Freedom, which is a group coaching program. It is about getting rid of the food crazies and having freedom to eat without emotional eating, binging etc.
It is a six month program that the leader, Natalie Forsythe, walks you through. You have two monthly online meetings with your whole group and two monthly meetings with your accountability partners. You also have a monthly coaching call with the leader and your accountability partners.
Her website is:
She has a lot of good information on her website. She also has a free class twice a week. http://natalieforsythe.com/free-class/
The premise is based on Intuitive Eating.
One of the requirements is to read the book. You learn not to have a diet mentality. You also learn not to judge yourself or food.
Mindfulness and listening to your body is also very important. I have to say this is really hard for me! I tend to eat on the run while driving, watching tv etc. Sometimes I eat and don’t even remember doing it!
Intuitive Eating helps you learn when you are hungry, learn when you are full, and be satisfied with what you eat! You can get this book at amazon:
Intuitive Eating is a process, it isn’t something that is a quick fix. It is the anti-diet! If you are looking for a quick fix, this isn’t for you. It is meant to be a lifelong process. I am not patient, but joining Food Freedom has helped me to work through the process.
The Path to Food Freedom
It involves a lot of interaction with the group, which is great, but also time-consuming.
You have lots and lots of support, which is AMAZING!
What I learned so far
I learned a lot about myself. I like to be in control and I like everyone to be happy. I am not a ” I have to drive” kind of person, but I like things to go my way. When I have not been able to keep everyone happy, or when I have not had control, I eat.
Eating is a way to push down emotions, or to distract yourself from them. I do that a lot. I eat when I am feeling emotions that I don’t want to deal with. And I really don’t want to deal with any emotions.
Eat less and exercise more
I swear I am going to slap the next person who tells me this. I have eaten less and exercised more on lots of different occasions. I have lost weight, on numerous occasions. I always gain that weight back, as well as a few more. I knew that there had to be something deeper behind all of this. I really think, at least in part, it is because of emotional reasons.
Does it work?
Honestly, I don’t know. I know I have been more mindful of what I have been eating, and I have noticed that I don’t always eat as much as I used to. It is a six month-long program, and I am about 2 months in.
I will keep you posted
I don’t know how often I will post, but I will try to keep you up to date on my progress.
